LIHITIO KAMIYA
An emerging artists platform at tanz nrw 15
This year’s edition of the festival has expanded its programme to include a pilot project: a platform for emerging artists from NRW who have gained first experience realising their choreographic endeavours. tanz nrw 15 has invited various artists to complete a three-week residency in either Düsseldorf, Essen or Cologne. In close contact with individually selected mentors, participants have the opportunity to develop short 15-minute works or take their next steps in an existing project. The results of their research will be presented at various venues during the festival. Artists and graduates of art academies from the fields of choreography and performance whose activities are based in NRW were eligible to apply.

LIHITO KAMIYA was born in Tokyo. He began his education studying documentary film under Hirokazu Koreeda before going to L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris in 2004. He then studied physical theatre at the Folkwang University of the Arts from 2006 to 2010 and subsequently enrolled in the school’s master programme in choreography. Since 2003 he has worked as a performer in theatre and dance projects in addition to developing works of his own.
