RENEGADE
ADAM´S R.I.P.
What does feminine energy mean in hip hop, and how do female aesthetics look in an urban context? For the first time, Renegade has teamed up with the contemporary choreographer and dancer Lenka Kniha-Bartunkova to realise a production exclusively with and by female protagonists. Together they scrutinise female existence. “What truth is there to feminine stereotypes on housewives, mothers and blondes? Not much – the quintet agree on that. As the ambiguous title ‘Adam’s R.I.P.’ implies, the dancers primarily depict female anatomy. And Adam – a symbol of patriarchy – should simply rest in peace. An entertainingly sarcastic and expressive articulation of feminist thought.” (Laura Konieczny, derwesten.de)
Under the artistic direction of Zekai Fenerci, Pottporus e.V./Renegade has realised dance theatre productions with various international artists, dancers, choreographers and cultural institutions since 2003. Since the 2010 season the company have been artists in residence at Schauspielhaus Bochum.
