| What really matters in life? Family, home country, nationality and gender, happiness and sorrow... taste in music and pizza toppings? A touching dialogue based on interviews with children puts these questions centre stage. The production “Chalk About” plays off of the expression “to talk about” and the verb “to chalk”, as in using chalk to write with. In this work, something between a dance performance and a play staged with simple means, two performers engage in a pulsating, optimistic manifesto on human diversity. “Chalk About” is the result of a collaboration between Leandro Kees, who studied film and theatre in Argentina before coming to Germany to study dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts, and Christine Devaney, artistic director of the Edinburgh-based company “Curious Seed”. |
