A dance music theatre as expedition. Choreographer Martin Nachbar and composer Benjamin Schweitzer, together with their team, worked on music and movement in improvisation and experiment, with the two arts treated as equals, realized in a play with a concrete topical idea.
The failed expedition to the North Pole, undertaken by Swedish engineer S.A. Andrée in 1897, offers material for their research. “nach Hause (homeward bound)“ takes aspects of this journey and dares to depart into the unknown with a heteregenous team, with a planned course, but with unforeseen details.

Martin Nachbar is a dancer and choreographer currently writing for a number of dance magazines. He received his education at the SNDO in Amsterdam, in New York and at P.A.R.T.S.. He is a graduate of the Master of Choreography and was one of the cofounders of the B.D.C./ Plischke collective. He developed his own numerous choreographies in cooperation with Jochen Roller and Martine Pisani, among others. In 2008, Nachbar completed the reconstruction of Dore Hoyers “Affectos Humanos“, begun in 1999, with which he staged “Urheben Aufheben“.

Benjamin Schweitzer was born in Marburg in 1973. After completing preparatory courses at the HfM Lübeck, he studied composition (with Wilfried Krätzschmar), musical theory and conducting (with Christian Kluttig) at the Hochschule für Musik, Dresden, as well as with Paavo Heininen at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki. He won numerous awards and sponsorships for his works; and, among others, he was inducted into the EHF-Trustee-Programme of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in 2010.
