The idea of a solo has been an important part of Mark Sieczkarek’s repertoire for more than twenty years. For his new production, developed in close collaboration with video artist Oliver Iserloh, he draws on past experiments, incorporates excerpts from solo works of the past years and combines all this into a new entity.

MOON SONG

How do we succeed in belonging and how do you succeed in being something? “Moon Song“ traces these questions cautiously, relating them to the current changes in Europe and their repercussions on the lifes of the people. It focuses – apart from the large, dramatically proclaimed revolutions – on all the little changes in everyday life and between people. A Turkish tenor and two dancers, one from South Korea and one from Scotland, are on a quest for their shared path.

OBLIVION SAUVE

Sieczkarek does not want to tell a singular narrative or convey a distinct message with his play; he rather intends to give space to pure movement, to the emotions evoked, the associations provoked. His restaging of the play “Waiting in vain“ from 2009 grows from impulse-driven improvisation, drawing its vibrant essence from a stream of concentrated, stylised movement.
