Dear Blackness
For their dance short film “Dear Blackness”, Bernd Michel Pierre Louis and Kevin Claudio Ponge Kassoma drew inspiration from four sources: the Black Lives Matter movement, their appreciation of black culture, the desire to heal the wounds we inflict on each other in the course of life, and their deep gratitude to their mothers. Designed like a letter, this film creates a counter-image to the negatively stigmatised image of the black man. Based on socio-cultural and autobiographical references, it shows cultural similarities and highlights the identity of the black man as a diverse individual.
