Black Bird Boy

A dancer. On the stage, he can be anything: black, white, an animal, a human being, mythical, real. Under a blonde curly monster wig, he stands out and yet hides. He is searching for his face in the mirror. How am I, how do I show myself? He scurries like a ballet swan, also looking for a beautiful image of himself in other movements and poses, sometimes with slow, tender elegance, sometimes with desperate momentum, oftentimes near the floor, as if with cropped wings. He grins and puts on a show for the camera; he checks the image of himself on the movable wall behind him to only find the back of his head. He proceeds to tell the fairy tale of the ugly duckling while conversely turning into the black bird himself, wearing plumage. Instead of rising to the skies, his wings sketch a circle on the floor. A perfect shape, like the egg that rolled onto the stage earlier. “Within, that is me, the origin of the world“, beams Soavi.
