FABIEN PRIOVILLE DANCE COMPANY
EXPERIMENT ON CHATTING BODIES
Would it be alright if I danced in your kitchen? With questions like this, Fabien Prioville invited people on facebook to perform with him and Pascal Merighi via Skype. During the rehearsal process, they could bring in their own ideas, their music and movements and experiment with the dancers in this new mode of digital interaction.
Virtuality as a playground for self-presentation: For his piece, Fabien Prioville found inspiration in the video chatroom chatroulette. There, users from around the globe present themselves with short, oftentimes extremely exalted self-portrayals, meet-ing each other in randomly generated encounters. In collaboration with Pascal Merighi, also a former dancer from the Tanztheater Wuppertal, Prioville probes for the fascination of these virtual encounters. |
