E-MOTION
SUPER ME

Hungry and lovelorn, people surf the net like modern day nomads, seeking adventure, love, affection and sex, or simply some new friends. This, the newest work by hip hop collective E-Motion, deals with relationships in the era of digitized communication. As in their last, globally succesful production "2ndID", the dancers' starting ground lies within their own relaities and lifes. By weaving different dancing styles into one and adding video plus their own music, E-Motion describe a contemporary phenomenon to which they juxtapose their own design.
Takao Baba, originator of the collective, first encountered hip hop culture in 1984. At first, he taught himself at jams and parties before going on to train in several different classical dance genres at the beginning of the 1990s. He went on a world tour with the "Spice Girls", worked as a dancer in London for commercial shows amongst others and then shifted his artistic focus to work as a choreographer and creative director for several industry projects. In 2003, he founded Dance Unity with Kadir Memi's "AMIGO", an organization dedicated to supporting urban dance styles which by now organizes five international Urban Dance Battles annually. During that same year, he also founded E.Motion in order to also establish hip hop as an art form.
