In "World's End Girlfriend", movement, lights, visuals, spaces and sound revolve around the absurdity of past visions of the future and the utopian sight of a world deserted. Cologne's northern industrial area provided inspiration for a play on fiction in daily routines and the attempt to turn reality displacement into movement. Shibahara's clear and stylized formality coupled with the artifical spatial arrangements in media artist Tessa Knapp's science fiction setting serve to create a cool, synthesized atmosphere, amplifying the ambivalence of nostalgia and vision.

Yoshie Shibahara started her dance education in Osaka, Japan, in 1992. In Germany, she studied elementary dance with Graziella Padilla at the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln and completed her further vocational training with a degree in dance therapy. She has been working as a freelance dancer and choreographer since 2001.
