„SPITZENFÖRDERUNG IM TANZ"? - ARTISTS AND EXPERTS IN DIALOGUE

with Bettina Kogler (brut Wien) Thomas Lehmen, Stephanie Thiersch und Caroline Simon among others

Based on the new NRW support concept for dance which the state government introduced under the label "Tanzland NRW" at the beginning of the year, PACT Zollverein would like to make an invitation for public dialogue which interviews regional and international dance producers about forward-looking models for public dance support.
Promotion of excellence in freelance and contemporary dance companies, a marketing agency for dance, concentration on dance centres in the cities - is this the structural potential for an innovative and sustainable support concept, capable of adequate reactions to the needs and demands of the NRW dance scene, empowering new impulses and strengthening dance not only locally, but also beyond state boundaries?
We wish to incite a discussion on adequate contemporary and continuous dance support and enable a constructive debate about the (new) places for artists, companies, producing houses and educational institutions within the region.

SHIFTING GROUNDS
Dance and music piece with 20 artists from Central Europe, West Africa and South India

Ten dancers from Central Europe, West Africa and South India reflect on group relations from
different perspectives: Status and leadership, polarization and integration, social and personal identity, interdependence and shortages of ressources. Music plays an integral artistic part, carried by a strong, intercontinental percussion apparatus, pianos, voices and electronics.
Idea and concept react to a situation of rapidly changing circumstances in geopolitics, social structures and general cultural conditions - "Shifting Grounds" - and are searching for specific efforts dance can provide therein. Vera Sander's choreography is leaning on a tension-filled set of a common anthropological foundation and different cultural human encodings.
