The future of dance – what will it be like? Belgian choreographer Michiel Vandevelde offers a high-voltage performance of “even newer than the newest” dance forms. Each dancer will revive a piece of dance history in a fresh new interpretation. A wealth of voices united in a choreographic ritual on and for the future. Vandevelde takes a look at the history of the Folkwang Tanzstudio founded by Kurt Jooss and with his choreography questions both the contemporary and the longing for the new.

Choreographer, curator, author and editor Michiel Vandevelde studied dance and choreography with P.A.R.T.S. and is from 2017 to 2021 Artist in Residence at the Kaaitheater in Brussels. In his artistic work he creates social, economic and cultural alternatives to question, challenge and transform dominant structures and perspectives.
