In “GEISTER – Fragment XL” (“GHOSTS – fragment XL”) Ben J. Riepe turns the performance space into a screen. Just as in the digital world, the lines between reality and fantasy become blurred, giving rise to realms of possibility between materiality and immateriality, spirit and flesh, human and machine. Riepe stages a psychedelic “trip” through intensely vivid and flamboyant labyrinthine spaces between the conscious and the subconscious, between digital and analogue reality. The work moves into different spaces, occupies new places and consequently develops further.

Ben J. Riepe has been working as a freelance choreographer in Düsseldorf since 2006 and has been running his own studio since 2010. The Folkwang graduate tours internationally with his plays and receives the "Exzellenzförderung" of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2018 he was awarded the Karl Arnold Prize of Nordrhein-Westfälische Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Künste.
